Olde World Sheet (imitation sheet drawn 'rippled' glass)

'Olde World Sheet' gives that authentic look in furniture making and picture framing, and for glazing of old windows and doors.

We duplicate the effect of old sheet drawn glass, with an attractive wavy surface and some imperfections, that is surprisingly distortion free to look through.

When it catches the light it is most authentic looking, and very desirable where the perfect flat look of modern float glass just doesn't do the piece justice, or there are existing panels of sheet glass nearby and the difference would be obvious.

This product is also used for picture framing of antique prints, old maps, black and white photography, etc.

The picture left shows sheet glass versus float glass.

The photos above show
an example of 'Olde World' Sheet used in glazing. We supply replacement glass panels for the Palm House, located in the Adelaide Botanical Gardens.

An exquisite Victorian glasshouse, designed by German architect Gustav Runge, the Palm House was imported from Bremen in Germany in 1875, and is thought to be the only one of its kind in the world.

The sophisticated engineering techniques used in its construction make it a benchmark in glasshouse design. Fully restored in 1995, the Palm House features a display of Madagascan arid flora.

A closer view of the glass panels shows a quite heavy distortion, one of the finishes available.
